Chalk the Town

Entries may be submitted starting Sunday, May 30th and must be received by midnight, Saturday, June 4th 2021. To be entered, email your photo as well as artist’s name and age to BOTH [email protected] and [email protected]. Please include the location of the sidewalk art if you would like to be included on a map for the community to drive by and see it in person!
We will post the photos to Category specific Albums on our Chalk the Town Facebook Event Page which will go live on June 7th, and voting via Facebook likes will be open for 5 days from June 7-June 11th.  Winners will be announced on Monday, June 14th.

  • Best use of Pony Express Theme & Community Spirit - All Ages
    • 1 Artists’ Choice Award

The People’s Choice Awards will be determined by most Facebook likes. The Artist’s Choice Awards will be selected by a panel of local artists & business owners. The winners will receive gift cards from our local businesses!
Should supply their own:

  • Chalk
  • Design
  • Knee pads
  • Grid/Pattern


  • Only washable chalk may be in your design. No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, oil -based pastels, hard pastels, etc. will be allowed
  • All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages; No lewd, graphic violence, gore, nudity
  • No political messages, words or symbols intended as advertising may appear in the image or space provided
  • By entering, you agree to allow McKinleyville CSD Parks & Recreation and the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce to publish your photo on our Facebook Event Page and in our online gallery and use it for social media and marketing purposes
  • Organizers have the right to disqualify and/or remove any inappropriate art or writing as they deem necessary
  • Official Artist Panel judging based on first impression, creativity, originality, skill and use of color. Decision of the judges are final.
  • One entry per person, anyone who submits more than one per person will be disqualified.
