Boots, Brews, Bites & Bordeaux
On Saturday, May 30 in McKinleyville was alive with nearly 300 people, some from as far away as Las Vegas. It was the first annual beer and wine walk through McKinleyville. There were 20 host businesses that paired with breweries, wineries as well as local food vendors.
Participants received a commemorative sample glass and had the choice of walking the 1.2 mile route or catching a ride on the Wes Green Landscape Materials hay ride or the Timber Ridge shuttle bus.
About 150 people finished off the night at the barn dance at A&L Feed where they danced to the music of Cliff Dallas and the Death Valley Troubadours.
McKinleyville was jumping again on Wednesday, June 3 at this year's chili cook-off, where there was live music by Michael Davyd. About 300 attendees judged the chili cooks in five different categories.
This year's winners were:
- Best Professional Chili - Fieldbrook General Store
- McKinleyville's Best Chili - Nor Cal Pet
- Best Team Name - Timber Ridge "Timber Ridge Chippers"
- Best Dressed Team - Blue Lake Casino
- Best Booth - Blue Lake Casino
