Chamber News

Monday, July 8th a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new Federal Courthouse that will be built next to the McKinleyville Airport Business Park.  The courthouse is scheduled to open in eighteen months.  The building will house one courtroom and office space for the U.S. Magistrate court, the U.S. Bankruptcy court, the Probation Department, the U.S. Marshal Service and the U.S. Attorney's Office.  Pictured above are, from the left, Federal Magistrate Judge Nandor J. Vadas, Senior U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer, U.S. Marshal Donald O'Keefe, landowner Steve Moser, Steve Doctor of C & CD Construction and Fifth District Supervisor Ryan Sundberg.

New Executive Director for the Chamber

It is with great pleasure that I would like to announce Heather Vina as the new McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

We are all sad to see Cindy Harrington go but wish her well on her new adventure.  We realize that Cindy has left big shoes to fill; however we are confident that Heather will pick up right where Cindy left off.

Heather is a native of Arcata, where she grew up.  Her father worked for the Arcata Fire Dept. as an engineer at the McKinleyville Station.

She spent a lot of her childhood in or around McKinleyville; in fact, she was present at the very first Pony Express Days Parade.

She moved to McKinleyville in 1992 with her husband Mike and has lived here ever since, raising their two children Kyle and Megan.

Heather is a past board member for the McKinleyville Chamber and is excited to be able to work with the Board of Directors to promote growth for businesses and the community in McKinleyville.  Please join me in giving Heather a warm welcome to the Chamber!
