(August 1, 2017) The McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce and the local community celebrated the completions of upgrades and remodeling of The Parlour with Shanea Gentleman Owner and her team of stylists. The open house and ribbon cutting drew a large crowd. The Parlour is located at 1936 Central Avenue in McKinleyville, behind the Church of the Joyful Healer. Their talented team can take care of your nails and hair as well as offering stand up tanning. They are open Mondays through Fridays from 9-6. Saturdays 10-5 and they are closed Sundays. You can reach them at (707)839-6251 for an appointment.
Courtney, Weston and Cora Kime welcomed the community and fellow business owners to their friendly location for an evening of networking. As in the A & L tradition, it was a family friendly event that included a jump house for the kids.
June 25, 2017. It was a great day for McKinleyville, when volunteers and a crew from Miller Farms set off down Central Avenue to hang the flower baskets on the light poles. It was the culmination of many years of dreams and hard work. The chamber reached out to its members several years ago to ask what they would like the chamber to do to help their businesses grow. A request by many members was to help make McKinleyville more inviting. The Flower Power Project was an answer to this request. This first year the flowers will be maintained and watered by volunteers. You can see the names of chamber members who have helped make this project work on the plaques hanging from the flower brackets. The second phase of the project that will add fairy lights to several trees along Central will follow soon. When you see the volunteers watering the flowers in the early morning be sure to drive careful and to wave and say hi.
