Volunteer with Redwood Parks Conservancy This August to Restore Coastal Habitats
CRESCENT CITY, Calif. – Redwood Parks Conservancy, in partnership with California State Parks North Coast Redwoods District, invites the public to volunteer this August to help restore coastal dunes, prairies, forests, and native plant habitats across Northern California.
These hands-on restoration days will focus on removing invasive non-native plants that threaten native species and sensitive ecosystems. Volunteer efforts will support the restoration of coastal dunes, prairies, and forests while helping preserve these remarkable landscapes for future generations.
Whether you’re passionate about conservation or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend time outdoors, these events offer an opportunity to connect with nature while making a positive impact in local state parks.

South Lake – Tolowa Dunes State Park
Sunday, August 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join us in removing invasive non-native plants such as European beachgrass to help restore coastal dune habitat.
Trinidad State Beach
Saturday, August 8, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Join us for a day of removing invasive non-native plants such as English ivy to help protect native coastal habitats.
Big Dune – Tolowa Dunes State Park
Sunday, August 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join us for a day of removing invasive non-native plants such as European beachgrass to help protect rare and sensitive coastal dune ecosystems.
Humboldt Lagoons State Park
Saturday, August 22, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Help restore western azaleas by removing vegetation and invasive non-native plants.
Prairie Creek State Park
Sunday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Help restore prairies by removing invasive non-native plants and encroaching vegetation.
Little River State Beach
Saturday, August 29, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Help restore coastal dune habitat by removing invasive plants such as European beachgrass and yellow bush lupine.
All events are free and open to the public. Volunteers of all ages are welcome (minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian). Volunteers will receive one free day-use pass to Sue-meg State Park.
