Coast Central Credit Union President/CEO James T. Sessa announced that its Board of Directors has selected 19 exceptional high school seniors for 2022 scholarships out of nearly 60 applications submitted, an increase from 11 last year.  Scholarships are based on the ability to overcome adversity, academic performance or improvement, and commitment to making a positive impact on their schools and communities.  Each recipient receives a total of $5,000 over four years, and must attend either Cal Poly Humboldt, Chico State, College of the Redwoods, or Shasta College for at least the first two years.

In addition to college scholarships, Coast Central provides monetary support through its Community Investment Grant and Sponsorship programs, as well as 2,000 hours annually through its Commitment to Community employee volunteer program.

“I am very proud of our scholarship program and the opportunity to recognize even more young people with bright futures,” Sessa stated.  “Since the program was established in 1986, it’s been a tremendous challenge to select recipients, considering the amazing youth we have in our communities.  This group has certainly endured many challenges over the last two years, and we salute them and their ability to persevere.”
