Botanybabe

Comfort for your lips, crafted from the flower.
We love sharing stories from small home-grown businesses! Here’s a little more about Botanybabe, from Owner Jennifer Wheeler:
Right here in McKinleyville, Botanybabe crafts an all‑natural line of handcrafted, whole‑flower calendula lip balms packaged in 100% plant‑based, plastic-free tubes. We grow and dry our own calendula and produce deeply nourishing balms using the richest, highest‑quality calendula oil possible. Our goal is to raise the bar on natural lip‑care and innovative and environmentally sustainable packaging, while partnering locally in ways that strengthen both our community’s resilience and our own. We intend to keep every step — from labor to facilities to calendula cultivation — human‑scaled and local.

Botanybabe grew from my lifelong commitment to regenerative land stewardship and the protection of soil health, plant communities, and pollinator diversity. After 30 years as a federal botanist and range conservationist, followed by five more as a multidisciplinary public‑land manager, I chose a new path. This spring, I stepped away from federal service to reclaim my own narrative — to live and work in alignment with my heart, and to uphold the integrity, values, ethics, and authenticity that guide me.

Murphy’s Markets in Trinidad, Sunny Brae, and Cutten will be offering a 20% off Valentine’s Day special on Botanybabe calendula lip balms — a perfect chance to support our local community grocery chain and stock up on “calendula kisses” for your valentines.
Since launching in 2014, Botanybabe’s lip balm line has grown from six Humboldt Bay stores to 41 stores (and counting!) across Oregon and California. For the most up‑to‑date list of locations, visit the website and scroll to the bottom of the homepage.
Finally! Botanybabe is working to develop a gift set box to be able to be selected for the first-ever Humboldt Made products vending machine at the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (aka, ‘the airport’). Botanybabe products may soon be available there if selected.
