Redwood Coast Energy Authority
A powerhouse (literally!) working to build a clean energy future
for Humboldt County.
Unlike for-profit, investor-owned utilities (IOUs), RCEA is local, not-for-profit, with no shareholders and they are entirely community-focused. Founded in 2003 by a collaboration of local governments, RCEA was created by Humboldt County, for Humboldt County. Since 2017, RCEA has provided cleaner and more affordable energy to over 90% of homes and businesses in the region, with decisions made right here at home, not in a distant boardroom.
In 2024 alone, RCEA helped our community access more than $185,000 in rebates and services and brought in $4.4 million in grants and incentives for local energy projects. Their team connects people with practical, money-saving programs like no-cost energy assessments, electric vehicle and e-bike incentives along with rebates for energy-efficient appliances. They’re always working on new solutions to support our local resilience and sustainability.
Brytann Busick, Community Strategies Manager, shares, “I love connecting community members with the amazing programs, rebates, and incentives that can help them save energy and money. I love Humboldt County and appreciate the important work RCEA is doing every day to ensure our community has a sustainable future powered by renewable energy.”
RCEA is proud to be a Community Choice Energy provider, which means customers have a real say in how their power is sourced and prioritized. It’s energy with a conscience and a zip code.
